♪♫ Article 18

There's not a rhyme, neither rhythm nor poetic structure....

How do you put such texts to music? Well...

... it had never been done before. First I wrote melodies for all the 30 articles. Subsequently reworking those melodies into a musically coherent structure, which holds together and yet provides enough variation to keep the listeners interest. Fun, captivating, enduring, and especially singable.

"I am so happy to know about your music! A breath of fresh air."

Maestro Suzanne Rome, Virginia (U.S.A.) conductor, quoted in May 2022

Downloads and more...

  • Below the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It's a wonderful text, well worth reading 😉
  • Also for download the document "Oratorio and microcosm". It is a 3-page description / introduction to the composition and to my thinking.
  • On this page you'll find an Art Track video based on one of the parts of the Oratorio. And a video-introduction to the Oratorio.
  • We've made a few demo-recordings which are available to stream here.
  • Those recordings are also placed in the larger context of the surrounding parts, welcome to listen here.
  • Further to those demos there is computer simulated audio for all the parts. Please contact us if you want to listen.
  • Full scores of the two sections available on the first section and second section pages
  • Each part has its own unique sound resulting from its constellation of performers. Only the first and the last part employs everyone. Each time the instruments and singers are chosen for a combination of musical reasons and to underscore the text.
